The Green Explorer Challenge - Urban Garden Planting

About the LTT

Day 1: Morning: Arrival and welcome session. Ice-breaking games with local students. Introduction to sustainability in daily urban life (What small changes can we make to reduce our footprint?) Afternoon:Treasure Hunt! Teams will explore the city using an interactive map and eco-checklist. Tasks will include: Finding eco-friendly shops or plastic-free markets Spotting bike lanes, green rooftops, and urban gardens Visiting a zero-waste café for a snack

Day 2: “Eat Smart, Waste Less” Morning: Visit to an Urban Farm and Rooftop Garden to plant and harvest fresh veggies, learn about pollinators and how to create a bee-friendly school garden. Afternoon: Zero-Waste Kitchen Challenge! Students will work in teams to cook a meal using only local, seasonal, and unpackaged ingredients,create DIY upcycled food wraps (instead of plastic wrap) to take home Evening: Sustainability Game Nigh: Fun team-based eco-trivia with prizes!

Day 3: “Move Green, Live Green” Morning: Eco-Mobility Adventure: Teams will navigate the city using only sustainable transport (walking, biking, public transport). They’ll track COâ‚‚ savings compared to car travel, take photos of urban eco-innovations they see along the way. Afternoon: Students will reimagine a public space in their hometown, designing it to be more bike and pedestrian friendly, greener with trees, plants, and eco-infrastructure, a place where people connect with nature Evening: Picnic in a local park with Spanish tapas tasting!

Day 4: Morning: Teams will present their ideas for school-wide recycling or zero-waste challenges. Setting up a mini urban garden in their school, running a monthly plastic-free day at school Afternoon: Students will sign a personal promise with one sustainable habit they commit to keeping after mobility. Closing, Certificates and Farewell celebration!
